Antibiotics – Dog Cure or Curse?

Another area that our society as a whole fails in is giving too many antibiotics. Whenever we get sick, we go to the doctor and we ask for antibiotics. Why? Because when we were growing up, antibiotics were the cure for everything. So many people were requesting them that doctors handed them out like candy.

The problem with that was so many people were using them, but they were only using them until they began to feel better and they didn't use the entire series.

Penicillin was perhaps one of the more natural drugs of the century, as it was derived from a fungus and was somewhat natural when compared to antibiotics later developed. It is rarely used today because many bacterial infections have become resistant to it as well.

Today, there are several synthetic antibiotics that are used instead, although these too are not as effective as they once were, such as Amoxicillin. The main problem with antibiotics is that they affect the immune system as well as add toxins to the body.

Unfortunately, the toxins from these drugs cannot be expelled by the body and can actually make us and our pets sicker throughout life. You take them to the vet for a fever and they try antibiotics. If that doesn't work, they move on to treatment number 2 or 3, etc. until the dog finally begins to feel better.
